This 1985 Jeep CJ-7 was discovered in a field near Alamosa, Colorado on a recent trip. I had been contemplating acquiring a Jeep tow vehicle to meet my needs for a light weight, 4 wheel drive vehicle that was towable on 4 wheels.
Upgraded to cast aluminum valve cover
-Die cast construction eliminates oil leak problems
-Thick die cast aluminum quiets engine rocker arm noise
-Crinkle black finish eliminates corrosion problems and keeps a stock appearance
-Top finned design helps maintain engine oil temperature
-Cast and machined surface provides for the best possible seal
Acquired a brand new AX-15 5-speed manual transmission. Manufactured by ASI in Japan the AX-15 is generally regarded as the finest 5 -speed manual transmission ever used in a Jeep. This transmission is well matched for the Jeep power train and can even support any possible future GM V-8 engine upgrade.
The existing T-5 manual 5 speed transmission is considered a light duty transmission and had syncro problems going into 1st and reverse gears.
